Patricia "Pat" L. Friedrichs age 87, of Mitchell (formerly of Plankinton) died Sunday April 6, 2014 at Firesteel Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 11, 2014 in Mizpah Cemetery at Plankinton, SD. Patricia L. Hendriks, daughter of John and Helen (Van Leuvean) Hendriks, was born February 9, 1927 in Sioux City, IA. She grew up on different farms in Northwest Iowa and attended country school. After her schooling, Pat was employed at a café in Canton, SD. It was at this café she met her future husband. Pat was united in marriage with Maynard Friedrichs on October 13, 1946. The couple made their home at the Sioux Falls Air Base, Chamberlain, Armour and finally Plankinton. Pat was a homemaker and raised their children. Her children remember mom baking bread and washing clothes every Saturday. After the children were grown up, she was employed in the food service department at the training school in Plankinton. Pat is a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plankinton and a lifetime member of the Plankinton VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, listening to country music and was an avid golfer. Grateful for having shared her life are her five children: David (Paula Bea) Friedrichs, Hubert, NC, Paula (Jack) Cornett, Sioux Falls, SD, Mari (Derald) Pahl, Mitchell, SD, Mark (Sandy) Friedrichs, LeMars, IA, Lynn Miller, Colorado Springs, CO; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers: Klaas (Nila) Hendriks, Sioux Falls, SD, John (Peg) Hendriks, Columbus, OH, Clyde (Grace) Hendriks, Polk City, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters: Jackie Friedrichs, Jennie Stoltenburg and Fronie Davis. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Heart and Sole Cancer Walk, PO Box 1412, Mitchell, SD.
