Orville D. Sell, age 83, of Mitchell, SD died Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Arlington, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 17, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell with a 12:30 PM burial at ZCBJ Cemetery in Wagner, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Orville D. Sell, son of Frank and Adeline (Stewart) Sell Sr., was born July 15, 1933 in Charles Mix County, SD. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school in rural Marty, SD.

Orville was united in marriage with Rose Marie Clark on June 24, 1952 in Rock County, MN. Shortly after his marriage, Orville was drafted in the US Army and served during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge in 1955 he returned to the Marty area. He was employed at the print shop at Marty Mission and was later transferred to the bakery department at Marty Mission. He attended Mitchell VoTech and graduated from the baking school. After his graduation, he began teaching at Mitchell Vo-Tech in the Baking Department and was made the Department Head. The family later moved to Mitchell.  Orville retired in May of 1995.  In November of 2016, Orville made his home in Lake Preston, SD to closer to his family.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Rose Marie Sell, Lake Preston, SD; two daughters, Anne (Tim) Nopens, Lake Preston, SD, Beth (Bill) Peta, Chanhassen, MN; six grandchildren, Heath Nopens, Omaha, NE, Jennifer Nopens, Sioux Falls, SD, Lisa (Rob) Greene, Lake Preston, SD, Jeremy Nopens, Sioux Falls, SD, Gabi Peta and Zach Peta, both of Chanhassen, MN; four great grandchildren, Stratton Nopens, Amelia Greene, Ryne Greene, Grace Greene; a brother, Frank Sell Jr. Mitchell, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne.
