Orville Marks, age 81, of Mitchell died Sunday November 26, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Orville George Marks, son of George and Nina (Gray) Marks, was born December 23, 1924 on the family farm in Hanson County, SD. Orville moved with his family to Loomis where he attended school and later graduated from Letcher High School. After his schooling, Orville entered the US Navy on December 9, 1943 and served in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorable discharged on April 18, 1946 and returned to Mitchell, SD. Orville was united in marriage with Mary Mayhew on November 3, 1947 at Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell. Orville was employed as an Animal Heath Products Saleman for Larson Distributing for many years. He was a life member of the American Legion, a life member of the Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the American Hunting Club. In his spare time, Orville enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Mary Marks, Mitchell, SD; a son-in-law, Darryl Delzer, Forest City, IA; 4 grandchildren, Monica Solberg and her husband, Darwin, Forest City, IA, Melissa Plymesser and her husband, Shawn, Lake Mills, IA, Michele Badker and her husband, Curt, Clear Lake, IA, Mark Delzer Forest City, IA; 5 great grandchildren, Michaela and Drake Badker, Mitchell and Dylan, Solberg, Riley Plymesser; and a sister, Maxine Dubinsky, Kansas City, KS. Orville was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Delzer and his parents.
