Obituary

Orville Lain Haines, 79, of White Lake, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital of an aortic aneurysm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at United Methodist Church in White Lake with burial in the White Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Sunday at the church with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Will Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Orville was born on October 4, 1926, in Mitchell to Lain and Rose (Pexa) Haines. He attended country school at Longfellow School north of White Lake. He graduated from White Lake High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army in the occupation force in Japan and was honorably discharged. Orville married Darlene Glissendorf on April 23, 1950 at White Lake. They lived on the Haines ranch north of White Lake. He attended Reisch Auction School in Mason City, Iowa in 1956. He had life long interests in auctioneering, rodeo, livestock and wild horses. He served as the sexton of the White Lake Cemetery for many years. His hobbies included gun and coin collecting, and side line coaching his grandchildren as they competed in numerous athletic events. At the time of his death he was still active in his gravel and auctioneering businesses. Above all else he was a family man. He is survived by his wife; five children: Deb and husband, Allan Olson, Mitchell, Rhonda and husband, Roger Hanson, Huron, Wayne and wife, Kristi, White Lake, Bonnie, Oacoma, Bruce and wife, Marlene, Mitchell, and a son-in-law, Craig Nowotny, Rapid City; eighteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great grandchild , five step great grandchildren, a sister, Caryl Schone, of White Lake and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Bette Nowotny, and a sister, Mary Schmidt.
