Norma Kokesh age 90, of Mitchell died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Will Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hank Kor officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell.

Norma Kokesh, daughter of Ray and Dessie (Huffman) Foster, was born September 17, 1926 in Fulton, SD. She attended grade school at Mann School and Burbank School, later graduating from high school in Fedora, SD. Norma attended Dakota Wesleyan University and received her state teaching certificate. She also attended Black Hills University in Spearfish, SD. Norma taught school for sixteen years.

Norma was united in marriage with Ernest Kokesh on August 18, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Wagner, SD. The couple lived on a farm southwest of Delmont, SD for nineteen years before moving to Mitchell in 1976. Norma did custodian work at Whittier School and Wilger's Memorial Home.

On the farm she raised peacocks. Norma enjoyed music, playing the piano, accordion, organ, and player piano.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and helped teach Bible School at Fulton, SD.

Grateful for having shared her life are her family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest on August 12, 2003; her parents; a brother, Quinton; and a sister, Sandra Guthmiller.
