Nina Mae Butts was born to Mary and Everett Sanderson on May 30, 1922, in Aurora, South Dakota. She was united in marriage with Duane W. Butts on August 25, 1941. She was a member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church where she was the church organist for 50 years and was a member of United Methodist Women. Nina worked at Buches Store in Mitchell for 25 years where she shared her love of sewing. In her lifetime, Nina was active in 4-H, Sweet Adelines, Eastern Star, NARFE, Farmers Union, Extension Service, and YWCA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who deeply loved her family, her community and her God. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Grateful for having shared her life are her four daughters: Karen (Jim) Taylor, Alexandria, SD; Marcia (David) Mack, Bentonville, AR; Linda (David) Brinkman, Plymouth, MN; Lorna (Dennis) Bolen, Sioux Falls; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Athalyn Bakkene, Canton; Viola Young, Santa Ana, CA and one brother, Cecil Sanderson, Brookings, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; grandson, Jared Taylor Staley, and six siblings: George Sanderson, Laura John, Elmer Sanderson, Gail Sanderson, Alice Clark, and Dean Sanderson. Memorials received by the family will be given in Ninas memory for Alzheimers research.
