Nellie Ayres, 97, Sioux Falls, formerly Mitchell, died January 9, at Good Samaritan Village. Funeral services will be Monday, at 2:30 PM at Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday at Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Mitchell. Nellie was born April 28, 1908 in Pierre, SD and graduated from Huron High School. She resided in Huron through 1947 and then lived in Mitchell until 1997. Nellie was united in marriage with Burton Ayres on April 23, 1936. Burton died in 1963. Nellie was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church. Survivors include a son, Larry B. Ayres (Janet) of Sioux Falls; grandchildren: Larry R. (Jill) Ayres, Brookings; Kari K (Greg Stewart), Eagan, MN; Amanda (Jon Myl), Glenn Ayres (Devon) and James Ayres in California; daughter-in-law, Ellen Ayres, Atascadero, CA and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Robert Dean, of Atascadero, CA in 1999.
