Nancy Wagner, 83, of Mitchell, SD died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Firesteel Healthcare Community. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Will Funeral Chapel.

Nancy Wagner, daughter of John and Grace (Pearman) Sells, was born November 28, 1933 in West Virginia. A mountaineer by birth Nancy graduated from West Virginia University. Seeking a place much different from home, she came to Mitchell to teach, but only stayed one year.

Meeting Hal (Harold) Wagner was the highlight of that year, but she returned to live in Indiana with her family. Hal was determined though, and three years later in 1961 they married. That was the start of 48 years together until Hal's death in 2009.

Nancy taught 34 years in Mitchell. Seeing and reconnecting with former students brought her much joy. Her friends in Mitchell became family.

Left to cherish their memories of her are her sister, Grace Ann (Mike) Rodal, and nieces Emily (Matt) Dickerson and Rachel Wilmot. Known as "Aunt Nancy" to her grand-nieces, Lillyan and Avery Dickerson, and Reagan Wilmot, and grand-nephew, Andrew Wilmot, they will miss her and remember her love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal in 2009; and her sister, Peggy in 2012.
