Myrna Stone, age 94 of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, August 17, 2024 at her home under hospice care. Private graveside services were held at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell, SD.

Myrna (Nepstad) Stone, daughter of Raymond B.  and Thelma (Flynn) Nepstad, was born August 13, 1930 in Mitchell, SD. She grew up in Mitchell and received her education here. Myrna graduated from Mitchell High School and then attended Dakota Wesleyan University for a year.

She was united in marriage with Wayne Stone on August 18, 1951 in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell until 1962. Because of Wayne's job, Myrna and Wayne lived in Bismarck, ND from 1963 to 1965, Hopkins, MN from 1965 to 1968, back to Mitchell from 1969 to 1976, Salt Lake, UT from 1977 to 1988, returning to Mitchell in 1989. In the mid 1950's Myrna worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Wes Kelley, and later as an AARP Sr. Tax Preparer, and served on the Meals on Wheels Board.

Myrna was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, the American Legion and VFW Women's Auxiliary, the Mitchell Historical Society, Lakeview Women's Golf League and the SD Bowling Association. She enjoyed bowling, golf and Kernel and Tiger Football and Basketball games.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Jeff Stone, Mitchell, SD; three grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Stone, Spokane, WA, Lindsay (Corey) Davis, Spokane, WA, Aubrey (Andy) Simpson, Post Falls, ID; six great grandchildren, A.J. Stone, Spokane, WA, Stone Patrick Davis, Spokane, WA, Holbie, Hadley, Hank and Hope Simpson, Post Falls, ID.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Stone; her parents Ray and Thelma Nepstad, and her grandparents.
