Myrna J Oehlerking, age 79 passed away July 19, 2022 under hospice care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 18 th at The Collective 316 N Main, Mitchell from 1:00 – 3:00pm.
Her daughters invite you to join them for a sweet treat and happy memory of Myrna.
Myrna was born May 28, 1943 in Albany, CA to James and Geraldine Franks. She graduated high school in Mitchell, SD in 1961. She graduated from the Stewarts School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen in 1963. Myrna met Larry Jung there and they were married in August 1963.
The couple welcomed two daughters, Gina and Kari. The family moved to Byron MN. Myrna owned and operated the Cameo Beauty Salon for several years.
Myrna later moved back to Mitchell. She married A Dean Oehlerking in August, 1974. A blended family was formed, with Dean's daughters Cynthia, Julie, and Sharon.
Myrna owned and operated Shear Power Beauty Salon in Mitchell for many years. She loved her clients and making people look and feel their best. After retiring due to poor health, she engaged in artistic pursuits.
She created hand painted items and one-of-a-kind pieces that boutiques and craft shows were pleased to display and sell. Her signature items were known as MJOriginals. Anything creative was of interest to her, including sketching, card making, painting, jewelry making, face painting, and more.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Judy August, and brother-in-law Dan Weber. She is survived by her daughters Gina (Marty) Lundeen, Kari (John) Broderick, siblings Jerilyn Weber, Joe (Tracy) Franks, Jim (Elizabeth) Franks, several nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved pet Maggie.
No service will be held at this time, but a Celebration of Life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Stroke Association, or your local Pink Ladies organization is much appreciated.
