Obituary

Mineriva "Sis" Hohn, age 87, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, April 7, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Emsley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM. Mineriva Miiller, daughter of Walter and Mary (Schoenfelder) Miiller, was born September 8, 1926 in rural Hillside, SD. She later moved to Mt. Vernon, SD with her family and helped on the family farm. She was united in marriage with Alfred M. Hohn on September 4, 1945 at the Emsley Church. The couple farmed in the Ethan and Mt. Vernon areas before returning to the Hohn family farm in 1958. Mineriva continued living on the family farm until she moved into Mitchell, SD in 1997. Mineriva was well known for her fried chicken, homemade chicken noodle soup, fresh bread and her cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mineriva was a former member of Emsley Catholic Church and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In her younger years she was active in the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters at both parishes. Mineriva was also a member of the Red Hats and was also a hospital and hospice volunteer. Grateful for having shared her life are her six children, Don (Jean) Hohn, Lino Lake, MN, Dave (Vickie) Hohn, Ethan, SD, Dan (Linda) Muth, Rapid City, SD, Deb (Mike) Ibis, Maple Grove, MN, Darrell Hohn, Ethan, SD, Deanna (Jay) Wempe, Mitchell, SD; 21 grandchilden; 27 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers, Aldred (Anna Mae) Miiller, Phoenix, AZ, Ivan (Theresa) Miiller, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Janie Schoenfelder, Mitchell, SD, Lois (Art) Rew, Mitchell, SD; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Hohn on April 11, 1994; her parents; four brothers, Wallace, Vilas, Lloyd and a brother in infancy; and a sister, Doris Carlson; five brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
