Millie Rands, age 82, of Alexandria, SD died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday November 24, 2004 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Millie was born on August 21, 1922, at Alexandria to Charles and Grace (Huber) Rands. She attended grade and high school in Alexandria, graduating with the class of 1940. She attended Mitchell Business College and Dakota Wesleyan University at Mitchell, graduating from there in 1945. She taught school for forty years in various communities through the state of South Dakota. She was a member of the SDEA, NEA, United Methodist Church at Alexandria, and Colfix Rebekah Lodge #9 at Huron, SD. She was also a member of the American Cancer Society, the Alexandria library board, the Greenhill Cemetery Association and the Ruth Bible Study group. She had been a resident of Firesteel Healthcare Center for the past seven years. She is survived by three nieces, Shirley Lloyd, Sioux Falls; Dorothy Hoscheid and husband, Bob, Mitchell; Charla Hamaker and husband, Alvin, Chester, Virginia; two nephews: Richard Rands and wife, Patricia and Roger Rands and wife, Kathy, both of Mitchell, as well as seven great nieces and nephews and twelve great great nieces and nephews, several cousins and many friends from throughout the area. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles, Jr. and sister-in-law, Lulu.
