Milford Paul Hoffman, 77, passed away August 17, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness with cancer. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Monday at the Open Arms Ministries. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites. He was born on June 21, 1928, in rural Lake Andes, SD to Vance and Ethel (Miley) Hoffman. He attended school at White Swan Township. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Upon his discharge, he worked for several years as a mechanic for International Harvester Dealership. He then worked for the Hutchinson County Highway Maintenance Department. Milford married Esther Reiner December 30, 1964 in Mitchell, SD. The following four years he worked for the SD State Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator and welder. He was employed for twenty five years with Dakota Pump Inc. as a truck driver. Following his retirement, he was a courier driver for Avera Queen of Peace and Bank West. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, older vintage automobiles and time and fellowship with the Daylight Donut crew. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Esther; daughters, Cindy Fitzpatrick and husband, Tim, Alexandria; and Valerie Hoffman, Mitchell; Tammy Sternhagen and husband Mike; and Linda Hoffman all of Yankton; a sister, Marcelene Fike and husband, Bill, Bloomington, IL; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
