Mildred Ann (Puetz) Meagher, was born on September 24, 1934 in Mitchell, SD. She was the fifth child born to William and Irene (Mutziger) Puetz. At an early age, she moved with her family to Ethan, SD. Around 1942, after her father William Puetz was employed with the Mitchell Army Airfield Fire Department   Mildred and her family moved to Mitchell, SD. She attended Notre Dame Academy, which was later named Holy Family in Mitchell.

In May of 1952, Mildred was working at Rozum's Motor Company, which was the Ford dealership in Mitchell. She was employed in the Precision Department and that is where she met her future husband James Meagher. The couple was united in marriage on October 28, 1952 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, SD. Mildred and James had six children: John, Wayne, William, Lisa, Michael and Randy.

Mildred worked for many years with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. She was also employed for 27 years with the Food Service Department for the Mitchell School District. Jim and Millie were avid mall walkers.

Mildred was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, James Meagher of 65 years, Mitchell, SD; five children, John Meagher, Pierre, SD, Wayne (Julie) Meagher, Aberdeen, SD, William Meagher, Pierre, SD, Lisa (Scott) Ziebart, Mitchell, SD, Michael Meagher, Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Pitlick, Kristin (Kevin) Bowen, Derek Meagher, Eric Meagher, Jason Meagher, Rob (Mandy) Hall, Mandy (Ben) DeSchepper and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy; infant grandson Joshua;    her parents; two brothers, Donald Puetz and James Puetz of Ethan; three sisters, Evelyn Limbaugh of Homosassa Springs, FL, Grayce Park of Covington, KY and June Puetz of Mitchell, SD.
