IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael
Schermann
April 14, 1970 – August 30, 2022
Michael Paul Schermann, 52, of Mitchell entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Michael Paul Schermann was born April 14, 1970 to Marinus and Vivian (Hoffman) Schermann. He attended school at Andes Central in Lake Andes, SD. Upon completing his early years of education, Michael Paul moved to LifeQuest in Mitchell. At this time, he was not prepared to leave his parents and shortly afterwards returned home to Lake Andes for a few years.
Michael Paul reentered LifeQuest after his father passed away. This time he enjoyed LifeQuest and the opportunities he was given; making many friends with housemates, staff, and community members. Those that met him enjoyed spending time with him, with his wit, sense of humor, intelligence, and endless teasing. Occasionally his mischievous tendencies and stealthy ways created interesting situations.
He also enjoyed video games, movies, working out at Anytime Fitness, bowling, the rodeo, and Superheroes. Michael loved all things military, he had caps, jackets, pants, etc. with a variety of military camouflage patterns. At times he helped out with Meals on Wheels and Helping Hands. Michael Paul enjoyed family holidays and birthdays with family members at his sister Sylvia's home as well as going on outings and camping trips with his friend Jeannie and her family.
In 2017 Michael Paul received recognition with the "This is Your Life" segment at the LifeQuest Annual Dinner Meeting.
Joshua Vlasman (his nephew) became Michael Paul's guardian after his mother passed away. Michael Paul shared a special bond with Joshua, attending many movies, eating out regularly, and sometimes just driving around with Miguel (Joshua's Dog) along for the ride.
Michael Paul is survived by his brother, Steven (Judy) Schermann, Moville, IA, sister Sylvia Vlasman, Fulton, SD, and sister, Mary DeWaard, Stickney, SD, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lucille Schermann, and brother in-law, Lynn Vlasman.
