After battling with congestive heart failure, our gentle and kind brother, Michael Shayne Olson, was welcomed home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Mitchell, SD, at the age of 83 years old.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, October 30, 2024 at the Kimball Protestant Church in Kimball, SD. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM the same day. Burial will be in the Kimball Community Cemetery.

Mike was the oldest of four children, born to his mother and father, Fred H. Olson and Sarah (Glass) Olson, on April 27, 1941 in Rapid City, SD. Mike graduated from Kimball High School, attended Dakota Wesleyan University and was a farmer and rancher with his family's business his entire career.   He retired when his health would not allow him to continue and sold his land several years ago before moving to Mitchell, SD.

Mike was known to love music. He played the piano and organ beautifully. He loved to dance, play pin bowling, new cars and motorcycles. He liked the Minnesota Vikings, NY Yankee baseball and Elvis Presley music.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; Fred H. Olson Sr. in 1995 and Sarah (Glass) Olson in 1999, both of Kimball, SD, brother; Charles "Chuck" Olson in 2015, of Kimball, SD.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Olson) Ridnour and husband Jerry, both of Dallas TX, brother, Fred H. Olson Jr and wife Jennifer (Iverson) of Piedmont, SD, a niece, Sara (Olson) Sheppick and husband Sam of Pierre, SD, nephews; John Justin Ridnour and wife Ashley (Brown) of Dallas, TX, Stuart Downing Ridnour and wife Laura (Stewart) of Dallas, TX and Michael Ryan Olson of Sioux Falls.

Mike had a vast array of friends and loved life and having fun. He will be greatly missed.
