Obituary

Michael Larrington, 68, of Rowlett TX, formerly of Mitchell, SD passed away on December 8th, 2023 after a brief battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 AM at Will Funeral Chapel.

Michael Allen Larrington was born June 27th 1955 in Gettysburg SD to John and Alice Larrington. He was the oldest boy of 5 kids. As a youth he was active in Sunday school and 4H. He also really enjoyed spending time with family and pulling off wild boy shenanigans usually directed at his sisters and cousins. Michael entered high school in Gettysburg but graduated from Columbus High School in Nebraska after the family relocated. After school Michael made his way to Mitchell SD working several odd jobs. It was here that he met and married Jean Arbeiter Nee Jonasen and they had 5 children. Michael was a member of the Army Reserves National Guard. He also enjoyed several career opportunities over the years including multiple over the road trucking companies that allowed him to travel most of the United States. Michael used this adventure to make many friends from different walks of life and to visit family as often as possible. At times in his life Michael tried his hand at more sedentary jobs and careers some included Trail King, The Holiday Inn, and The Abbott House, but the road and the big rigs always called him back.

Michael was a hard worker, but he knew how to play hard as well. He rarely turned down an invite for a night out with friends or better yet a hunting trip with family. An avid deer and pheasant hunter he never missed a season. He was great at squeezing in a trip to hunt as well as enjoy a good steak with family and friends back in Gettysburg. When Michael moved from SD to Texas in 2010 to take on a new adventure he was blessed to be closer to his little brother; this strengthening of their friendship was an added bonus to all the things he loved about Texas. The things he would often brag about included the warm weather, the small town scene in the different places he lived, the local eateries and wineries, the live music, and probably his favorite was getting to adopt the cowboy southern drawl.

Throughout his life Michael knew many close friends that loved him and some he returned that love for, but he waited years to meet his hearts life match and finally did when he married his wife Cindy in September of 2022. It was likely that cowboy hat, and cowboy talk that hooked her but it had to be true love that kept her coming back once she got to know he had a cowboy stubborn side to go with them.

Deeply mourning his loss are wife Cindy, his children and grandchildren - Shanna Kobold (Mike), Mason, Sean, and Thea; Sarah Sowl (Ryan), Ethan and Leah; Stacey Hohn (Eric). Katie, Jack and Easton; John Larrington, Ronan and Murphy; all of Mitchell SD; step-daughter Shawnon Wilkinson(Clay) and her two kids Grant & Bethany Bellah; his four siblings Wanda Becker (Dick) Woodland Park CO; Judy Seefeld (Steve) Columbus NE; Dan Larrington (Paula) Pinehurst, TX; Linda Starkey (Ben) Waverly NE. Michael will also be greatly missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.

Awaiting him in heaven are his parents John and Alice, an infant son Christopher, and an infant grandson Alexander.
