Michael "Mikey" Bauer, age 55, of Mitchell, SD (formerly of Rapid City, SD) died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his home. Burial will be at Pinelawn Cemetery in Rapid City, SD with a visitation from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Kistrom Center, 804 N. Mentzer Street, Mitchell, SD.

Michael Bauer, son of James and Phyllis (Gosmire) Bauer, was born March 26, 1960 in Rapid City, SD. Michael attended Rapid City Children's Hospital from 1963 to 1966, he then attended Upper Rapid School from 1966 to 1975. Michael attended Kibben Kuster School from 1975 to 1980 and later the Black Hills Workshop.

He moved to Mitchell in 2012 and lived at the East Elm Group Home until 2015. Michael then lived at GSA Gamble Apartment up until the time of his death.

Michael loved to listen to Cindy Lauper,ABBA and AC/DC Music. He enjoyed being read to and looking at himself in the mirror. Michael truly loved visits from his family.

Survivors include his siblings, Art (Lynette) Bauer, North Sioux City, SD, Robert (Kay) Bauer, Spearfish, SD, Annette (Harvey) Hansen, Smithville, TX, Ken Bauer, Rapid City, SD, Duane "Andy" (Marsha) Bauer, Oak Harbor, WA; two uncles, Howard and Robert Gosmire, Canova, SD; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Keith.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Michael name.
