Merlyn Anthony Flottmeyer, age 84 died Friday, October 13, 2023 at Avantara Norton, in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the Will Funeral Chapel followed by military rites, with burial at South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Merlyn Anthony Flottmeyer, son of Anthony and Freda (Weiss) Flottmeyer, was born April 29, 1939 in Miller, SD. He attended his school years at Polo, SD. Merlyn entered the US Army on October 4, 1956 serving in Korea during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on July 14, 1958.

Merlyn was married and had three children.

Grateful for having shared his life are his three daughters, Jill (Dave) Wieman, Sioux Falls, SD, Dixie (Dave Usselman) Mattern, Mina, SD, Leann (Brett) Farnham, Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren, Amber Mattern, Alyssa Beyers, Kelsey Wieman, Morgan Wieman, Megan Henderson, Brady Farnham, Erin Fuerst; five great grandchildren, Anna Coulter, Raelynn Beyers, Mia Coulter, Luella Beyers, and Goldie Beyers; a brother, Martin (Marie) Flottmeyer, Redfield, SD and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Marjorie Faust, Mike Cotton, and Mary Kathryn Teller.
