Maxine Robertson 82, of Mitchell died August 5, 2012 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Serviceman's Memorial Cemetery. Maxine McCabe Robertson was born on April 5, 1930 in Sioux Falls, SD to Jess and Del Marie (Vearrier) McCabe. She grew up and attended many rural grade schools moved to Letcher and attended High School. After graduation she attended Mitchell School of Business and worked as a stenographer. In 1950, she met Lyle Robertson and in 1951, they married in Mitchell, SD. They lived in Brookings, SD for several years, where Lyle leased a gas station and Maxine did the books, until they had a chance to buy a station in Mitchell, Lyle's Mobil. They then moved to Mitchell to raise their family of four children and buy the station where Maxine did the books and also sold Stanley products and Avon. She sold Avon for thirty years, which she loved. Winning many awards and traveling to many places, Avon allowed her to meet many people and just keep in touch with all of her friends. Maxine enjoyed dancing, bowling, traveling, playing cards, sewing, and going to coffee with her many friends. She made all the bridesmaid dresses in all three of her daughter's weddings. She was a member of The Moose, Elks, American Legion Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church. Maxine has lived at Firesteel Healthcare since November of 2009. Grateful for sharing her life are her four children, Nancy (John) Kelley of Mitchell, SD, Carla (Mick) O'Connor of Mitchell, Laurie (Scot) Keith of Hermosa, SD and Michael (Shelly) Robertson of Mitchell, SD; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and later by her husband Lyle in 1994.
