Maxine Lenning, age 84 of Mitchell, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 6, at the Mitchell Weslyan Church. Burial will be 2:00 PM Friday in Restlawn Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Maxine Lillian Lenning was born on July 18, 1925 in Brookings, SD to Kenneth and Beatrice (Bailey) Cone. Maxine grew up and attended school in the Bruce, SD area. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Lenning on April 17, 1943 in White, SD. Lloyd and Maxine made their home in Brookings, Cavour, and later in Huron where they owned and operated Lenning Custodial Service until 1991. Maxine moved to Mitchell on April 2, 2007 where she resided until her death.

Maxines hobbies were baking, collecting cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers and angels. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Playing games was a favorite past time. Her faith in Jesus Christ shown in the way she lived her life. Mom lived her life for her husband of 64 years and her family. The coffee pot was always on and doors open anytime for family and friends. Stories abundant.

Maxine is survived by her children: Robert Lenning, Oklahoma City, OK; Russell (Deanna) Lenning, Huron, SD; Bonnie (Jeff) Shawd, Mitchell, SD; Betty (Gil) Wyche, Orlando, FL; Berniece (Berndt) Krause, San Clemente, CA; Pat (Stephen) Wasilewski, Omaha, NE. 29 Grandchildren, 43 Great-grandchildren, 2 Great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister Nellie Skovland, one brother Robert Cone, one granddaughter Julie Shawd and grandsons Gilbert Wyche III and Brandon Lenning.
