Mary Jane Ramesbothom, age 78, of Mitchell, died Saturday July 3, 2004 at Avera Queen of Peace. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Wednesday at Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 2:30 PM Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton. Mary Jane was born in Marion, Ohio, on December 20, 1925 to Robert and Una May (Sherman) Williams. At a young age she moved with her family to South Dakota and settled in Canton. The family moved to Spencerville, Ohio when Mary Jane was in junior high and later moved back to Canton, SD. She graduated from Canton High School in 1943. She married Eugene B. Smith in December 1942, in Bastrop, Texas and to this union, a son, Preston was born. She later remarried and had two children. Mary Jane earned credit in Library Science from Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell and took refresher courses from Vo-Tech. She retired from Kmart in 1993 and moved to Texas. She returned to Mitchell in 1994 and worked part time at Kmart and seven years at Perkins. She has worked at Wal-Mart since 2001. She was a 60 year member of the VFW Auxiliary and a 25 year member of the Fleet Auxiliary, Charleston, South Carolina. She is survived by a son, Del Ramesbothom, Wills Point, Texas; a grandson, James, and granddaughter, May, of Texas; cousins in Ohio, Michigan and Texas and special friends, Bob and Joan McCord of White Lake . She was preceded in death by her mother, Una Millage, step-father, R.D. Millage; sister, Winifred and brother, Donald.
