Obituary

Mary Ann Puetz, 94, of Mitchell, SD passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at Avera Queen of Peace.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Friday, December 11, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Masks will be required if attending the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mary Ann (Weber) Puetz, daughter of Peter L. and Anna (Kurtenbach) Weber, was born of a farm north of Parkston, SD. Grew up in the Parkston/Dimock area, attending parochial school in Dimock, SD. After her schooling, Mary Ann worked on the family farm.

Mary Ann was united with Wilfred Puetz on June 10, 1947 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock, SD. The couple farmed in the Dimock area until 1950 when they moved to a farm north of Mitchell to the Plano area. Mary Ann was a farm wife and raised their children. In 1972, the couple moved into Mitchell. While in Mitchell, Mary Ann cleaned house for people and also worked at the Karmel Korn Shop. She continued to live in Mitchell, becoming a resident of Edgewood Memory Care in 2020.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, an active member of the altar society and sang in the church choir for a time. Mary Ann enjoyed playing cards, bingo, dominos and lawn bowling. She will always be remembered by her family as a great cook and baker. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting Branson, MO, Las Vegas, NV, California, the Grand Canyon, the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Jerry (Nancy) Puetz, James (Bonnie) Puetz, Donald (Sherry) Puetz;, a brother, Dale Weber; nine grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer)  Puetz, Jennifer (Jim) Larson, Brandon (Brenda) Puetz, Jenny Letcher, Kimberly Heidinger, Angela Puetz, Brian Puetz, Stephanie Russell, William Russell; and numerous great grandchildren.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred in 1983, her parents, and seven siblings, Marlyn, Willard, Victor, Lillian, Donna Mae, Patrick and Adela.
