Mary Johanna Muth, age 98, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, April 15, 2016 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Dimock, SD with burial at the Platte City Cemetery, Platte, SD. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.

Mary Johanna Muth, daughter of John "Jim" and Lena (Schumacher) Majerus, was born August 17, 1917 in Aurora County. She was united in marriage with Wilfred Andersen in 1935, two sons Eugene and Wilfred were born to his union. Mary worked in the White Lake area for many families cleaning, painting, wall papering and Warrell's Motel as well.

She later married Everette Muth on November 8, 1968 and gained six sons (Dick, Chuck, Don, Dan, Paul and Tom) and one daughter (Joan). During her marriage to Everette, they lived in Ethan and were custodians at the Ethan School. During their retirement they enjoyed camping and fishing. Everette died on December 21, 1988 and Mary continued to live in Ethan until health issues necessitated her moving to Firesteel Healthcare Center.

Mary enjoyed working with her hands making crafts, many quilts and embroidered many dish towel sets. Her yard and flower beds were her greatest joy.

Mary leaves two sons; five stepson, a step daughter; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 17 nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Wilfred Andersen; 2nd husband, Everette Muth; siblings, John Schumacher, Susan Andersen, Anna King, Lena Andersen, Joseph Majerus; and one step son, Chuck Muth.
