Mary Lynn Geidel, age 71 of Aberdeen, SD (formerly of Mitchell, SD) died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rural Dimock, SD with burial at Immanuel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday February 1, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.
Mary Lynn Geidel, daughter of Charles and Laura (Loomer) Volz, was born July 31, 1945 in Mitchell, SD. She attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Mary then received her nursing degree from Arizona School of Nursing. She then returned to Mitchell.
Mary was united in marriage with Marvin Geidel on October 9, 1971 in Mitchell, SD. The couple began farming in 1971 on a farm outside of Corisca, SD. Mary began her career as a nurse in the late 1980's at Avera Brady Nursing Home. The couple retired from farming in 1995 and moved to Mitchell in 2000. Mary continued her nursing career at Avera Brady Nursing Home. In the fall of 2014 Mary moved to Aberdeen, SD.
She enjoyed collecting angels, crafting and watching tv. Mary will always be remembered for the care she gave her son Ryan.
Grateful for having shared her life are her five children, Scott Geidel, Mitchell, SD, Mark Geidel, Salem, SD, Tracie (David) Barreca, Mundelein, IL, Kelli (Randy) Meister, Aberdeen, SD, Ryan Geidel; 7 grandchildren; three brothers, Larry (Nora) Volz, Kansas City, KS, Jim (Ann) Volz, Phoenix, AZ, Rick (Dee) Volz, Lakeville, MN; five sisters, Jean (Jerry) Mohr, Mitchell, SD, Sister Gail Volz, Aberdeen, SD, Charlene (Bob) Wiedenaar, Phoenix, AZ, Laurie (Jerry) Mosier, Phoenix, AZ, Joyce Hartington, Winter Park, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, January 28, 2011; a son, Ryan, September 20, 2015; her parents; and a brother, Ronnie.
