Marvella M. Beck, age 85, of Mitchell, SD (formerly of Aberdeen, SD) died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial 3:00 PM Saturday at Sunset Memorial Garden in Aberdeen, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Marvella M. Beck, daughter of Herman and Marie (Schmuck) Kasemodel, was born January 9, 1932 on the family farm in Rock County, MN. She attended country school and later graduated from Jasper High School in 1949. After her schooling, Marvella moved to Kansas City and trained to be a card punch operator.

She was united in marriage with Marvin Beck on February 5, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple farmed near Hartford for seven years before moving to Sioux Falls. While in Sioux Falls, Marvella was employed at John Morrell and Co. for five years in the punch card department. The couple moved to Aberdeen, SD in January of 1967, where she raised their family. Marvella continued to live in Aberdeen until a few years ago and then made her home in Mitchell, SD.

Marvella enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing, and playing cards. Her greatest pleasure was being able to stay home and raise her children.

Grateful for having shared her life are her four sons, David (Celia) Beck, Rapid City, SD, Keith (Lisa) Beck, Mitchell, SD, Ken (Sheri) Beck, Minneapolis, MN, Duane (Jennifer) Beck, Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Joyce) Kasemodel, Escanaba, MI, Gene (Marge) Kasemodel, Renner, SD; two sisters, Lucille Gangestad, LuVerne, MN and Carol Sels, Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Beck in 2003; her parents; three sisters and three brothers.
