Martha Hemeyer, 84, of Mitchell, died December 8, 2004 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:45 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Martha was born December 3, 1920, at rural Mt. Vernon to Theodore and Elizabeth (Sperle) Buhmann. She attended country school and lived at home until her marriage to Edward Hemeyer in June, 8, 1944. They farmed until 1947. They operated Mitchell Palace City Auction, until 1959. Ed was a cattle buyer and she was bookkeeper for the company. Ed died in 1971 and she moved into Mitchell. She worked part time for a local chiropractor. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. In July 2001, Martha moved to Prairie Crossings. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and doing embroidering. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971, her parents; two brothers, Erwin and Robert and one sister, Loraine Deinert.
