Marilyn Peschong age 59, of Mitchell, SD, died Friday June 25, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.
Marilyn Peschong, daughter of Herbert and Kathryn (Conzemius) Bannwarth, was born February 19, 1951 in Sioux Falls, SD. When she was 6, she moved with her family to a farm outside of Mitchell, SD. She attended Holy Family grade school and Notre Dame high school. While attending South Dakota State University, she started dating Steve. Later, she attended Mitchell Area Vo-tech where she earned a secretarial degree. She went on to work for the states attorney, Tinan, Smith and Taylor Law Office, and Piper Jaffray. She had worked at Mitchell High School since 1997.
Marilyn was united in marriage with Stephen J. Peschong on December 4, 1971 in Mitchell, SD. The couple continued to make their home in Mitchell. In 2004, she and Steve partnered together as real estate agents for Mitchell Realty. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of Prairie Stitchers, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, and Ladies Ducks Unlimited. She enjoyed cross-stitching, vacationing with her family in MN, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, her seven children, Kristi (Heath) Driscoll, Mitchell, SD; Amy (Chris) Weier, Mitchell, SD; Lori Peschong, St. Paul, MN; Julie (Shawn) Sass, Omaha, NE; Kyle (Miranda) Peschong, Mitchell, SD; Jeffrey Peschong, Mitchell, SD; Stephen Peschong, Mitchell, SD; 8 grandchildren, Anna, Ethan & Ryan Driscoll, Mitchell, SD; Ashlyn, Cole & Collin Weier, Mitchell, SD; Cody Sass, Omaha, NE; Talli Peschong, Mitchell, SD; 3 brothers, James (Sue) Bannwarth, Fulton, SD; Charles (Linda) Bannwarth, Mitchell, SD; David (Marlene) Bannwarth, Independence, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Duane; and baby Peschong.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
