Marilyn Pamela Doyle, daughter of Leo and Helen (Zens) Miller, was born October 20, 1941 in Canova, SD. Marilyn passed away May 15, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 66. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday May 19, 2008 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Alexandria, SD with burial at St. Marys Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday May 18, 2008 at St. Marys Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Marilyn grew up on a farm near Epiphany. She attended grade school in Epiphany and graduated from Farmer High School in 1959. After graduation she worked at the Canova Bank and Mitchell National Bank. She was united in marriage with Richard Doyle on June 20, 1961. To this union six children were born. The couple lived in Mitchell until 1976 when they moved to a farm south of Alexandria, SD. For many years Marilyn worked on the farm and raised their children. She was substitute teacher from 1984 until 1990 when she began working as a teacher at the Rosedale Colony until her retirement in 2006. Marilyn was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. She served many years as a CCD teacher, as a member of the Parish Council, and as a member of the Sacred Heart League. For many years, she also helped organize the Fatima Family Retreat. Marilyn was also a member of the Red Alley Hats chapter of the Red Hat Society. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Richard Doyle, Alexandria, SD; six children, Mike (Tammy) Doyle, Tyndall, SD, Randy (Mary) Doyle, Alexandria, SD, Kelly (Curt) Hart, Alexandria, SD, Sean (Cindy Minder)Doyle, Springfield, SD, Brett (Becky) Doyle, Alexandria, SD, Chris (Michelle) Doyle, Alexandria, SD; 12 grandchildren (and one on the way); four brothers, Keith (Delores) Miller, Mitchell, SD, Butch (Diane) Miller, Abilene, KS, Lyle (Lori) Miller, Canova, SD, Doug (Lea) Miller, Mitchell, SD; three sisters, Sharon (Dave) Ditter, Alexandria, SD, Dianne (Lee) Conner, Rapid City, SD, Sandi (Tim) Grivna, Mitchell, SD; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
