Marie Theresa Weber, 97, Mitchell, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, Nov. 18, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan with burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, from 6-8 PM on Friday, with a Scripture service at 7:00 PM. Marie Theresa Leven was born October 15, 1909, in Davison County, South Dakota to Mathias and Katherine (Weiser) Leven. She was baptized in the Catholic faith on October 24, 1909, at the Emsley Church that was located in the rural area west of Ethan, SD. She was confirmed at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan, SD, on May 13, 1923. Marie grew up in the Dimock and Ethan area and attended the Dimock Catholic Parochial School for several years. The balance of her schooling was at Ethan where she graduated from Grade School. She kept house for her father after her mother died in 1926, until her marriage. Marie was united in marriage to Frank N. Weber at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan on January 15, 1929. Frank and Marie had two children, Melvin and Phyllis. Throughout their marriage they lived in the following places: Ethan, Parkston, Redfield, Whittier, CA, and Mitchell. Maries husband, Frank, passed away in 1975. Marie was known for her wonderful baked items including homemade breads, pies, cakes, cookies and caramel rolls. She enjoyed canning, sewing, playing cards and crocheting. Marie loved spending time with family and friends. She had an uncanny ability to remember the anniversary and birthday dates of all of her friends and family. Maries weakness was strawberry sundaes. She would scrape the bowl to make sure she got every last bite. The last week of her life, Maries diet consisted mostly of strawberry sundaes. Marie is survived by one son and his wife, Melvin and Lureta Weber, her daughter, Phyllis (Weber) Mohr, 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank N. Weber; 2 brothers Dominic and Peter; son-in-law, DeWayne Mohr; 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Avera Brady Health and Rehab, for a Bereavement Suite.
