Marie R. Fuhrman, age 80 of Emery died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 1, 2007 at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial will be in St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church with a prayer service and rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Marie was born on a farm near Platte, SD on January 23, 1927, to William and Katherine (Bechen) Kane. Her family moved into Platte on Feb. 22, 1941. She then started baby-sitting two lovely little children every night, Gene and Myrna Greunig, children of Rube and Lizzie Greunig, while the mother operated the caf. Marie graduated from the Platte High School with the class of 1945. She worked in the caf for several years and then a few years in the K & K store. She married Victor Fuhrman on April 19, 1949 and to this union, a son, David and a daughter, Marlys were born. They lived on a farm west of Parkston until March, 1959, when they moved to a farm south of Alexandria and lived there until February, 1981. They then moved to a farm closer to Emery. She is survived by her husband, of Emery; a son, David Fuhrman, and wife, Diane, of Huron; two grandsons: Andrew Furhman and wife, Lauriann, Pierre and Brian Fuhrman and wife, Rachel, Huron; four great grandchildren: Kaley Fuhrman and Aidan, Brylee and Chance Fuhrman; two brothers: Joe Kane and wife, Arley, Mitchell, and LeRoy Kane and wife, Gladys, Austin, MN; a sister, Katherine Kopplin, Cherry Valley, ILL; a brother-in-law, Albert Breuker, Harris, IA, a sister-in-law, Henrietta Yutrzenka, Mt. Vernon; a son-in-law, Dale Stern, Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Marlys in 2002, two brothers, Alfred and Bill and one sister, Viola Breuker.
