Marie Josephine Erpenbach, 98.5 passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. A Mass of Chistian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Ethan, SD. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2023 at Will Funeral Chapel.

Marie was born April 23, 1925 in Dimock, SD to Joseph and Mary (Germschied) Wisner. She attended country school for eight years before graduating from Parkston High School. Marie married Arthur Erpenbach on October 13, 1943 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock. Arthur and Marie farmed west of Ethan for the first two years of their marriage and then moved to a farm 2 miles north of Ethan, where they farmed and eventually retired. Marie moved off the farm in 2020.

She was an accomplished seamstress, always had a large garden and enjoyed dancing, belonged to a square-dancing club. In her earlier years she enjoyed boating with friends.

She was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church before becoming a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Marie is survived by two children; Sharon (Jerome) Weber, Carol (Dennis) Graves, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, parents, 5 brothers, Edwin, Erwin, Francis, Joe, Gerald, and 2 sisters, Dorothy and Irene.
