Obituary

Margaret Toots (Lenocker) Zoss, age 93 of Mitchell, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with burial at Mizpah Cemetery in Plankinton. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Margaret Doran, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Regynski) Doran, was born January 16, 1916 on a farm in Sanborn County south of Woonsocket, SD. She moved with her family to a farm by Plankinton, SD where Margaret attended Penny Country School for eight years.

Margaret was united in marriage with Myles Lenocker on June 23, 1931. They were blessed with two children Betty and Jerry. The couple moved to a farm north of Mt. Vernon. Margaret worked on the farm and stayed there after Myles passed away.

On May 24, 1958, Margaret was united in marriage with Albert Zoss. The couple continued to farm north of Mt. Vernon. When Albert moved to the Storla Sunset Nursing Home, Margaret moved into Storla. While in Storla she volunteered and worked at the Storla Sunset Nursing Home. Margaret moved to Crystal Manor in June 2004 and in May of 2008 she became a resident of Firesteel Healthcare Center.

Margaret was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. She loved to work in her yard, cook, bake pies, play cards and go to dances.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Betty (Gerald) Welch, Mt. Vernon, SD and Jerry (Marialyce) Lenocker, Mitchell, SD; five grandchildren, Barb (Dave) Timmerman, Marlene (Wayne) Hofer, Ronda (Bill) Sargent, Bryan (Barb) Lenocker, Robin (Richard) John; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Tara, Shannon, Stephanie, Aimee, Pyne, Emma and Miles; one great great granddaughter, Kayla Jo; a brother, Sonny (Gen) Doran, Rapid City, SD; two step children, Jan (Terry) Hendrix, Artesian, SD, Richard Zoss, Letcher, SD.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her parents; three children in infancy; three brothers and two sisters.

Memorial may be directed to the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church.
