Margaret Pueppke, 101, of Mitchell, SD passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Edgewood in Mitchell.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 23, 2021 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.

Margaret was born on May 10, 1920 on a farm near Loomis to Clyde and Gladys Taylor.  Her first eight years of elementary education were spent in a country school house where she rode her Shetland pony "Sammy" to school.  She graduated from Letcher High School in 1939.  She enrolled at St. Joseph school of nursing and graduated in 1942.

Margaret worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, Rochester, MN, St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell, SD and Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, SD.  She worked as a nurse in several area doctor's offices, including Dr. William Ball, Dr. Floyd Gillis Sr. and Dr. Robert Weber.  She flew with private duty cases to the Mayo hospitals in Minneapolis.  Margaret retired from the Methodist Hospital as a discharge coordinator in 1983.

In the 1940's Margaret married Russell Wold and the couple had one daughter, Nancy Ann.  After her divorce she and Nancy moved back to South Dakota.  She met Harvey Pueppke and the two were married in 1949.  They moved into their new home in Mitchell in 1951 and lived there for fifty years. In 1951, her second daughter, Kathryn, was born.  Margaret loved her yard; garden and many happy years were spent attending to her beautiful yard and roses.  Her other hobbies included sewing, cooking, hunting and fishing.  Harvey passed away at a young age in 1971.

Margaret later met her friend and traveling companion, Glen Scheuranbrand, and they enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips to the Missouri river and various locations.  Margaret also enjoyed spending the winter months in California with her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She served her community by being an active member in the Davison County Extension "Wonder Workers" since 1949.  During that time, she judged for 4-H in Davison County and at the State Fair.  Margaret was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Mitchell where she served on the wedding committee and taught Sunday and Bible School.  She assisted the Davison County nurses with health care screening clinics.  Margaret was also a member of the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.  Margaret has resided at Edgewood in Mitchell since 2013 and was loved and respected by all the residence and staff.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters; Nancy Kulpaca and Kathryn Garrity, grandchildren; Tonya Kulpaca, Steve (Jennifer) Kulpaca, great grandchildren; Taylor Endicott, Travis Endicott, Trent Kulpaca, Tristan Kulpaca, Trevor Kulpaca as well as many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harvey, brother, Robert Taylor, sister, Bonnie Everson, son-in-law, Donald Kulpaca, sister-in-law, Anna Taylor and brother-in-law DeLos Everson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Heart Association.
