Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Pesicka Brutty age 85, of Sioux Falls (Formerly of Mitchell) died August 2, 2015 at Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 7, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Church of the Epiphany in Epiphany, SD with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Will Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Margaret "Peggy" Winifred Austin Pesicka Brutty was born in Clark, SD on October 4, 1929 to Glenn Austin and Winifred Keenan Austin. Peggy graduated from St. Joe's School of Nursing in Omaha, NE where she met and married George Pesicka in Mitchell, SD on August 23, 1950. They moved to Mitchell where George ran a hardware store with his father before starting a teaching and coaching career. They lived in several small towns in South Dakota where George moved up to Principal and then Superintendent while Peggy worked at home having 7 children. After George's death in 1962, Peggy worked as a Registered Nurse for the Tobin Clinic in Mitchell. She belonged to Holy Family Church while raising her children. In 1974 Peggy married Don Brutty from Epiphany, SD and moved there to his farm and helped raise Don's 4 children. Peggy worked at the Howard Clinic for several years and she & Don were members of the Epiphany Parish Church for 36 years. After Don's death in 2010, Peggy spent her last years in the wonderful care of the staff at Prince of Peace nursing home in Sioux Falls. Peggy is survived by her children, Kathy Miller, Steve (Patty) Pesicka, Anne (Dave) Parker, Peggy (Arne) Bortnem, Bob (Janet) Pesicka, John (Denita) Pesicka, John (Sandra) Brutty, Jim Brutty, Barb (Jeff) Newman, Roberta (Paul) Parr; 2 sisters Lois Flanagan and Ann Thomas; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Pesicka, Don Brutty, and son Doug Pesicka.
