Marcella Margarett Hewitt, age 88, of Mitchell, died October 26, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Monday at Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria. Marcella was born August 27, 1918, to Everett and Margaret Leggett at Fairbury, Nebraska. She married Ted Hewitt at Madison, SD on November 10, 1934.They moved to Mitchell in 1947 with their young family. They moved in 1969, after her husbands retirement, to an acreage in rural Ethan. She worked at various jobs besides raising the family. After her husbands death in 1998, she moved to Brentwood Apartments in Mitchell and moved to Brady Home in July, 2002. Marcella was a member of the United Methodist Church at Ethan, SD. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, having served as Past Noble Grand, and also served as Past Oracle of the Royal Neighbors of America. She is survived by four children: Marlene and husband, Robert Bun Colvin, Ethan; Barbra and husband, Lewis Wingert, Sioux Falls; Sheryl and husband, Lonnie Hartman, Alexandria, and David Hewitt and wife, Peggy, Luverne, MN; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. LaDonna Christensen and husband Elwin Butch, Madison, SD; and a brother, Veryl D. Leggett, Santa Barbara, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, an infant son, two brothers and a half-brother.
