Maggie Santiago age 69, of Mitchell died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. A celebration of life service will be 6:30 PM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 in Hilo, HI.
Maggie Clarise Puuwaialoha Nakoa Santiago was born February 7, 1946 in Honolulu, HI to John and Mary Nakoa.
Maggie attended Palolo Elementary, Paul Jarrett intermediate and graduated from Kaimuki High School where she lettered three years on the volleyball team.
Maggie fell in love with a wonderful man Raymond Santiago, Jr. together they had five children.
Maggie worked as a pineapple trimmer for Libby Cannery. She then furthered her skills and got her diploma in office training. She then started her journey in the cafeteria schools in Nanai Kapono and Honolulu then in 1983 she moved to Hilo, HI with her family and started out in cafeteria schools in Keaau, Mountain View to Hilo Union where she finally retired.
Maggie was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mitchell and enjoyed her church very much.
Grateful for sharing her life are her children Leimomi (Todd) Russell of Mitchell, SD, Raylyn (Ronald) Quesada, Darlene (Jason) Kipilii, Kainoa (Lisa) Santiago and Paakaula (Bridgette) Santiago all of Hilo, HI; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
