Obituary

Madeline Gram Morgan, age 93, of Mitchell died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday July 2, 2005 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM Friday. Madeline (Van Hecke) Morgan was born April 13, 1912, to Camiel and Leona Van Hecke of Letcher, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm near Letcher and attended school there. On March 4, 1935, she married William Morgan of Mitchell. They lived on the farm northwest of Mitchell all of their married life and Madeline continued living there after Bills death in 1969. Madeline became ill on March 4th and entered Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Madeline was a member of the Holy Spirit church and was actively involved in the St. Scholasticas Altar Society in Letcher where she once served as president. She was a farm wife and worked very hard on the farm. She had a gift of sewing and always had time for her children, grand children and great grand children. She loved reading books, playing cards, crocheting and watching her grandkids basketball games. She also enjoyed keeping in close touch with family in Belgium. Those grateful for sharing life with her were her four children. Margaret (Chuck) Zoss of Yankton, SD, Erma (John) Janssen of De Smet, SD, Bill (Carol) Morgan of Mitchell, SD, George (Sherry) Morgan of Mitchell, SD; twenty grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Collete Van Hecke of Ethan, SD and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Camiel and Leona Van Hecke, her husband Bill, one infant son, Patrick William and four brothers, Albert, George, William and Francis; one great grandson, Zachary Morgan.
