Lyle L. Hohbach age 74, of Mitchell, died Thursday August 28, 2009 at Firesteel Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday September 1, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Lyle Lavern Hohbach was born April 8, 1935 in Mitchell to David and Edith (Tietz) Hohbach. He attended rural school south of Mt. Vernon before moving to Mitchell with his parents. After schooling, he farmed with his father until entering the US Army in February of 1958 where he completed training to become a tank mechanic. While serving overseas, he was injured and recuperated in hospitals in Germany and France. He completed his active service and then served four years in the reserves before being honorably discharged in February of 1964.
Lyle married Eileen Hannemann November 12, 1976 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. They made their home in rural Mitchell and were members of Zion Lutheran Church. As well as engaged in farming, Lyle was a mechanic and drove truck through out his career. After retiring, he enjoyed many years spending time with his son Curtis.
Grateful for sharing his life are his son Curtis Hohbach of Mitchell; brother Don and wife Maudene Hohbach of Mitchell; sister Marie and husband Wallace Meinke of Mitchell; sister-in-law Patricia Hohbach of Mt.Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1998, infant brother and brother Evan.
