Lyle Edwards, age 81, of Letcher, SD, died May 26, 2004. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Letcher with burial at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Lyle Lloyd Edwards was born November 29, 1922 at rural Letcher to Lloyd and Retta (Bissel) Edwards. He attended rural school and graduated from Letcher High School in 1941. Lyle was united in marriage with Faye Mack on June 1, 1944 in Letcher Congregational Parsonage. The couple lived on farms in the Letcher area, where Lyle farmed until retiring in 1980 and moved into Letcher. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Letcher and the Mitchell Moose Lodge. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Faye Edwards, Letcher, SD; a son, Lanning Edwards, Mitchell, SD; two daughters, Debbie Lee and her husband, Milton, Ponchatoula, LA, Dawn Grosz and her husband, Myron, Mitchell, SD; daughter-in-law, Janet Edwards, Letcher, SD; son-in-law, Bruce Hildebrand, Keystone, SD; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Evers and her husband, Jim, Woonsocket, SD, Arlene Hanten of Mitchell, SD; several nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patty Hildebrand; a sister, Geraldine Edwards; and a brother, Marion Edwards.
