Lydia Hansen, age 95 of Mitchell, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Prairie Crossings. Funeral services will be Saturday 1:30PM at First Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8PM at First Lutheran Church. Will Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Lydia was born September 2, 1910 to Fred and Mina (Raabe) Goldhammer-Peters in rural Delmont. She grew up and attended rural school near Delmont. After school she did housework for neighbor ladies. She moved to Mitchell and continued doing housework for several Mitchell households. She was united in marriage with Lance Hansen on December 27, 1932. When they were first married they farmed near Ethan, then moved to Mitchell. She continued her housework and started doing laundry and taking in ironing for Mitchell families. Lydia was a long time member of First Lutheran Church. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, two half sisters, Emma Winckler of Wagner and Clara Rath of Mitchell She was preceded in death by her husband, Lance Hansen on April 16, 1991; her parents; brothers Roy, Ray and John Goldhammer; sisters Meta Kirchhevel and Florence Uecker; ten step and half brothers and sisters.
