LuVern Kreth, 97, of Mt. Vernon, SD passed away Saturday, May1, 2021 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.  Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church in  rural Dimock, SD.  Visitation will begin one hour prior.  Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Luvern was born June 29, 1923 to Ernest and Emma (Sperlich) Kreth on the family farm in Mt. Vernon.  He attended country school and a High School before leaving to work the farm.  LuVern met Laverna Geidel at a social function and the two wed on June 10, 1951.  To this union four children were born.

LuVern farmed until he retired.  In his early years he was a "sidebander", spending time talking to people on his CB radio.  LuVern was a Twins fan until the day he died.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children; Jerilyn (Floyd) Muntefering, Daryl Kreth, sister; Gladys Ziebart, brother in-law; Harold Geidel, grandchildren; Craig Muntefering, Chad (Brenda) Muntefering, Alex (Chole) Muntefering, Aaron (Ashlee) Johnson, Allison (Derek) West, Ashley (Chase) Walder, Jason (Tristin) Ackman, Matt Ackman, Holly (Danny) Richardson, Heather (Zach) Tennison, Tammy Kreth, Jessica (Peter) Weber and 23 great grandchildren.

LuVern was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters; Carol Johnson, Joyce and her husband, Robin Ackman, nine brothers and sisters, and twin great grandchildren.
