Lucille Schermann, 66, of Mitchell passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2020 at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell.

Lucille was born, February 19, 1954 to Marinus and Vivian (Hoffman) Schermann. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith.  At the age of one, Lucille suffered convulsions while ill with a high fever.  Lucille's courage and engaging nature helped her meet the challenges resulting from this disabling occurrence.

As an early teen, Lucille moved to the State of South Dakota Home for the Disabled at Redfield and then years later to the Custer State Hospital.

On April 30, 1996 Lucille moved to Mitchell. She loved her new home at LifeQuest.  Lucy was known for her sweet smile, blowing kisses, and giving hugs.  She loved being outside, sitting in the sunshine, and the monthly animal visits. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, housemates, and staff.

The family wishes to thank the countless loving caregivers that touched Lucy throughout her life.

Lucille is survived by brother, Steven (Judy) Schermann, Moville, IA; sister, Sylvia Vlasman, Fulton, SD; sister, Mary DeWaard, Stickney, SD; and brother, Mike Schermann, Mitchell, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother-in-law, Lynn Vlasman.
