Lucille Doyle, 90, of Alexandria, died July 1, 2005 at Avera McKennan Hospice. Visitation and rosary will be at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria from 6-8 PM on Monday with a prayer service at 7 PM followed by a rosary. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church, at Alexandria at 10:30 AM Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary of Mercy Cemetery, Alexandria. Mary Lucille Ditter was born April 28, 1915 to Frank and Elizabeth (Fritschen) Ditter of Farmer. She was second eldest of four children. Lucille graduated from St. Peters Catholic School and Edgerton Consolidated School, Farmer. Upon graduation, she was employed in Mitchell. She married Edward John Doyle, October 29, 1936 in Farmer. They lived in Farmer, where she was telephone operator until 1940 when they moved to a farm east of town. In 1946, they moved to the Doyle farm northeast of Alexandria. Upon the death of Edward in 1975, Lucille left the farm in 1976, built a new house and moved into Alexandria where she was employed by the Hanson School System for the next 14 years. She was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Sacred Heart League. Lucille is survived by seven children: Louella and Walter Canney, Lincoln, NE; Richard and Marilyn Doyle, Alexandria, SD; James and Nancy Doyle, Davenport, IA; Timothy and Sharon Doyle, Alexandria, SD; Patrick and Paulette Doyle, Sioux Falls, SD; Colleen and Kenneth Ring, Lincoln, NE; Kevin and Karen Doyle, Sioux Falls, SD; twenty one grand children: James Canney, Omaha, NE, Steven and Cynthia Pendergast Canney, Kansas City, MO, Mark Canney, Lincoln, NE, Ellen and Wallace Webster, Pleasant Hill, CA, Michael and Tammy Doyle, Tyndall, SD; Randy and Mary Doyle, Alexandria, SD, Kelly and Curt Hart, Alexandria, SD, Sean Doyle and special friend Cindy Minder, Springfield, SD, Brett and Becky Doyle, Alexandria, SD, Chris and Michelle Doyle, Alexandria, SD, Jon Doyle, San Francisco, CA, Patrick Doyle, Davenport, IA, Molly Doyle, Chicago, IL; Ryan Doyle, Sioux Falls, SD, Melissa Doyle, Vista, CA, Jennifer Doyle, Vermillion, SD, Liz Ring Carlson and Justin Carlson, Lincoln, NE; Edward and Coty Ring, Lincoln, NE, Daniel Doyle,Lincoln, NE, and Kenneth and Katie Doyle, Sioux Falls, SD; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Florence Becker, Kingsley, IA, sister-in-law, Margaret Ditter, Lawton, IA, and Anna Marie Zens, Alexandria, SD, a cousin of Edward. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Kenneth, her parents, brother, Arnold Ditter and a sister, Loretta Engwis. Lucille was a very caring and strong person. May she rest in peace in heaven.
