Lucille Carvell, age 85, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Will Funeral Chapel.
Lucille Erskine, daughter of Ralph and Garnett (Simons) Erskine, was born May 10, 1924 in Creston, IA. She attended school in Omaha, NE graduating from Omaha Public Schools.
Lucille was united in marriage with Arlie Kerr in Bonaparte, IA. To this union two children were born. The couple moved to Missouri for a short time and in 1955 moved to Loveland, CO. While in Loveland, Lucille was employed at several factories and then later as a seamstress. In April of 1987, Lucille was united in marriage with Bill Carvell in Las Vegas, NV. Bill died in 1988.
In 1994, she moved to Mitchell, SD to be near her family and continued to live here until her death. Lucille enjoyed reading westerns, playing bingo, crocheting, fishing and western dancing. She loved spending time with her family and collecting clocks.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Jim Kerr, Mitchell, SD, Joyce (Armand) Granata, Independence, KS; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a special friend, Phyllis Brenning, Loveland, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Paul and Harold; and a sister, Mildred.
