Lieutenant Clinton Ronald Wermers was born to Susette and Ronald Wermers on October 12, 1976 in Mitchell, SD. He attended Mt. Vernon High School and graduated in 1995. Clint then went on to attend South Dakota State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Geography. He served in the Army National Guard from 1995-1997, and then joined the Air National Guard in 1998. In October of 2001, Clint entered Officer Candidate School at NAS Pensacola.

Upon completion of OCS, he went to Corpus Christi, TX for Primary Training in the T-34. He selected the mighty E-6, and in February of 2004 was sent for advanced training in the T-1 at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK. Clint received his wings of gold on July 2, 2003. His mother, Susette, pinned them on his chest.

After a few months of training in the Boeing 737, Clint checked into his first operational Squadron. The VQ-3 Ironmen became his family for the next few years, and he worked diligently towards becoming as Aircraft Commander as well as a Mission Commander. During his tour, Clint married his beautiful wife Shannon on July 14, 2005. They welcomed their adorable daughter, Cadence, on December 12, of that year.

In April of 2006, Clint, Shannon and Cadence moved to Milton, FL for his shore tour. He worked hard as an instructor in the T-34, while maintaining a ground job, getting his Masters Degree, and fulfilling his duties as a wonderful father and husband. On April 20, 2007, he and Shannon welcomed their second daughter, Audrey Susette.

Clints military career has been one of impeccable performance and service to his country. It has been capped in a selfless and heroic manner. Although he will forever be missed and loved by his family and friends, he has been called to the Lord with an extra set of wings.

His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Air Force Reserve), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star in lieu of second award, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He will be awarded a Navy Commendation Medal posthumously for his exceptional service to VT-6 from March 2007 to January 2010.
