Loretta Cain age 91, of Mitchell died Friday, March 10, 2017 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father John Short officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell.

Loretta was born July 25, 1925 in rural Ethan to Anthony and Margaret (Munterfering) Wermers.  She was raised on the family farm and attended school at Tobin 18.

She was united in marriage with Arthur Cain on June 13, 1946 in Mitchell, SD.  She was the mother to two boys, Norman and Thomas.  She started her restaurant career at Club Nemo, which later became The Brig. While working there, she was offered the opportunity to manage a cafe which became Loretta's Truck Haven. She managed this for over 35 years.  Loretta was known for her hard work ethic, great food and homemade pies.  Loretta and her husband also developed land southwest of Mitchell, creating Dakota Campground. They owned this for 30 years. In her retirement years, Loretta managed the concession stand at Thunder Valley Dragways. Loretta enjoyed her 12 years at the track that her son Tom managed.  She enjoyed the the times the racers were giving her hugs and calling her grandma.

Loretta is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Cain, Sioux Falls; granddaughters, Jodie Cain-Lambert, Mitchell, Janean (Jay) Shank, Sioux Falls, Jennifer Cain, Steen MN; brothers, Alvin (Jeanette) Wermers, Woonsocket, Bob Wermers, Sioux Falls, Don (Verla) Wermers, Middleton WI. Her 6 great grandchildren, Levi, Jordan, Jackson, Taylor, Cole and Trevor and great-great grandson Jayce.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, sons Norman "Jackie" and Thomas, her parents, her sister Delores, brothers Alfred and Norbert.
