Lorelie Marie Hicks (Koehler), 74, Parkston, formerly of Mitchell, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital, Parkston. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell. Burial will follow at the American Legion Cemetery, Mitchell, SD. Lorelie was born on January 24, 1939 in Oakland, NE to Paul and Esther Koehler (Fauss). At a young age the family moved to Spencer, SD, later settling in Mitchell. Lorelie married Donald Vibbert, in 1955, living in England for a time while Donald served in the armed services. In January of 1961 she married Gary Maeschen, farming just south of Mitchell. Lorelie worked various jobs throughout her life including nurse's aide at Methodist Hospital, Mitchell, waitressing at the Townhouse Café, and bartending at the Townhouse, the Blueroom, and the Moonlight Bar all in Mitchell. She greatly enjoyed visiting with people and telling stories. On March 7, 1981 she married William (Bill) Hicks. They spent their married life and retirement in Mitchell. Grateful for sharing Lorelie's life are her sons Donald and wife Cheryl Maeschen of Ethan, and Ronald and wife Tammy of Parkston, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 6 step-children, 19 step- grandchildren, 20 step-great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Lorelie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, one brother, and 4 sisters.
