Lois Schneider age 85, of Alexandria died Friday, September 27, 2013 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, Father Jerome Ranek will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary of Mercy Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Lois Irene Schneider was born April 27, 1928 to Frank and Gladys (Fahy) Theis in Farmer, SD. After three years of grade school in Emery, she moved (with some resistance) with her family to Alexandria where she completed her schooling and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1946. On May 3, 1948 Lois married Robert "Bob" Schneider at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria where they resided throughout their married life. Lois was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society and a long standing member of The Catholic Foresters. She was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed nothing more than welcoming guests to their immaculate home and presenting them with one of her delicious, home-cooked meals. Bob and Lois enjoyed traveling and took many wonderful trips in the United States and Europe. Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband of 65 years, Bob; her children Pam of Omaha, NE and Dan and wife Lisa and their children, Elizabeth, Emily, Luisa, Robert and Daniel of Scottsville, VA; nieces, nephews and many friends. Lois was preceded in death by an infant daughter Gladys Catherine; her parents; two brothers, Donald who was killed in WWII and Gerald and wife Betty; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Phyllis Schneider.
