Lois Heck age 94, of Mitchell died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.

Lois Heck, daughter of Harry and Vera (Reel) Schorg, was born October 30, 1922 in Spencer, SD. She spent her younger years working in the ship yards in California. She was united in marriage with Elmer Heck on January 14, 1947 in Mitchell, SD.

For several years, Lois and Elmer owned and operated Heck's Self Serve Liquor. Together they raised two daughters, Susan Vander Heiden and Sharon Freeman.

Lois was a dedicated house wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her big heart and caring nature. Lois enjoyed playing cards and board games, spending time with family and friends, going to church and seeing her great grandchildren.

Grateful for having share her life are her husband, Elmer Heck, Mitchell, SD; a daughter, Susan (Myron) Vander Heiden; grandchildren, Chad Vickers, Wade Vickers, Kimberly Vander Heiden Sebert, Andrea Freeman Demaranville and Kayelynn Vander Heiden; along with numerous great grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Freeman; her parents and siblings.
